Church’s SS21
Church’s is unveiling its new Spring/Summer 2021 men’s and women’s collection through a short film entitled Dear Thomas…
The film, loosely inspired by the mood and style of the iconic book and film The Talented Mr Ripley, provides the perfect setting to introduce the new Church’s collection. Dear Thomas… offers a snapshot of the wonderfully seductive but complex relationship between the three main characters. The unmistakably Mediterranean setting provokes a nostalgic feeling of summers past, in sharp contrast with the modern silhouettes of the characters and their footwear. The Church’s Spring/Summer 2021 shoes are distinctive in their design, sporting a contemporary look that conceals an innate elegance. The new collection features models and forms inspired by designs from the brand’s archives but reworked in a modern guise, most notably the women’s sandals with tank-tread sole. The brand’s innovative spirit is as alive as ever in the men’s collection, which includes sneakers and shoes with ultra-light soles. The new Fairstead model, with its striking square toe, takes inspiration from the brand’s 1970s footwear, while the new Farsley loafer is the epitome of summer style, combining an aerodynamic upper with the brand’s traditional Goodyear construction. There is an extensive range of colour options, with browns and natural hues paired with seasonal favourites like blue and white. The women’s collection, meanwhile, gives trademark British style a contemporary makeover. The new Gaia shoes and the iconic Kelsey cross-strap sandals have substantial yet simultaneously lightweight soles. The Dee Dee slide sandal, first seen in the previous summer collection, has evolved into a heeled version, creating the perfect shoe to elevate a daytime outfit or complement sophisticated evening attire.
